Flowers and salt

Hello Jessie!
I had a nice day today and hope you did too.  We talked about missionaries and missionary work today with David and Lisa while we were there.  They asked about you and were happy to hear about your experiences.  They said the SLC mission is expecting to grow temporarily to about 300 missionaries, nearly triple its usual size, as coronavirus reassignments take place.  Justin is visiting tonight with Mark working on Spanish.  He is hoping to return to Chile in September, but it's really just a hope at this point as nothing is certain.
Have a great day tomorrow.  Will we get to visit with you for Mother's Day?
Much love,
Dad

It was a really nice day today.  We started doing some chores in the morning, then went to SLC to celebrate Ella's birthday.  Some of us played SkipBo while others played Dominion.  We had curry for lunch, then went to the church to use some props to act out the nativity.  Why do the nativity story in May?  Because the birthday girl wanted to!  And remembering and celebrating the story of Jesus' birth is appropriate any time.  Then we went back to the Woodward's for cookies and ice cream.

Mark read Long Way from Chicago during the drive both ways.  It was so fun to listen to.  Julie and I went to a nursery to buy the last of the flowers for the flower beds and some tomatoes and zucchini for the garden.  Most of those got planted, but we need another trellis for the sweet potatoes from G&G Woodward.  We bought some strawberries and decided to build a raised bed instead of putting them in the ground to be overrun by bindweed.  So we're not quite done yet.

Julie made smoothies for dinner and accidentally put salt in instead of sugar.  They were… interesting.  I don't really like smoothies very much, so I always ask for only half a glass.  That was a good move tonight.

Thankful: I'm thankful for the beauty of the earth.  I'm grateful to have a nice home we can take care of.  I hope our garden this year will do very well.

Ministering: I think we ministered to David's family and they ministered to us today.  That's part of what it means to be a family.

More later…

Our flower beds and pots are looking nice.  No weeds invited.

 A little spring time nativity.

James wanted to drive us home.
