Liftoff!

Dear Sister Payne and Elder Payne,
Today was a good day but it's not over yet, so read on for more details.  Much love!
Dad

Today was super productive.  The vegetable garden and all the flower beds were weeded and I trimmed the front hedge.  Spencer and Neil mowed the lawn and I put more Round-Up on the perimeter weeds.

One cool thing we did today was watch the launch of the Falcon rocket from Florida today.  This is the first time since 2011 that a manned rocket has launched from American soil.  It was amazing to watch, and everything worked perfectly.  They have really increased the technology going into these space vehicles.  The rocket boosters now return themselves to a designated landing point – none of this parachute splash-down in the ocean.  Incredible.

This afternoon we went on a hike to the Grotto in Payson Canyon with Mom, Randy, Harper and Leo.  Everyone was good, had fun, and didn’t get lost or seriously hurt.  Just a few scraped knees.  That is a success!

Julie made pancakes for dinner (I sliced some of the leftover smoked ribs and put it on a salad) and we ate on the picnic table on the deck.  The weather was quite hot earlier today, but clouds blew in about 5:00 pm and it cooled off delightfully.

Abbie’s teeth are doing okay.  She slept well last night and has spent most of today napping.  Her mouth is sore, but she hasn’t swollen up too much.  Ibuprofen and acetaminophen make it manageable.

Thankful: l am grateful for everything that we got done today.  It felt nice.  Sadly, there are still four loads of laundry downstairs that need attention.  We spent so much time outside today that the inside is still pretty cluttered.  But that’s okay.

Ministering: I enjoyed a brief visit with Patrick Bates.  They are doing a lot of work on their yard and are putting in a garden this year.  But as I tried to offer encouragement and help, he turned it right around and offered to help us with our projects.  I like good neighbors, and hope to be one others can rely on.

I hear laundry calling.  More later…

My dinner salad.  I thought it looked fancy.
